The Rock Band hype train keeps a rollin’ as Harmonix has released another surprise DLC release in the form of Stephen Colbert’s 80’s rock classic “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You)” from Stephen and the Colberts.

Colbert’s obviously a big fan of the game as not only shown by the release of the song, but also with the recent tapings on the Colbert Report of Rush and Nas playing the game as well. Be sure to check out the video of the song below:

In this weeks Target ad, 1600 point Xbox Live cards are 25% off for the low price of $14.95.  This is a good way of saving money on Rock Band DLC songs and savy customers will take adavatange of price match offers at other stores to score an even better deal.

The last time that Target ran this ad, I picked up 4 cards, which was like a “BTGO” (Buy Three Get One), which I’ll probably do again.

Rock Band 2Harmonix is starting to roll out the details on Rock Band 2 prior to the start of E3 next week and we can’t be more excited.  Besides confirming once again that all previously bought DLC tracks from Rock Band will transfer to Rock Band 2, it now appears that they’ve confirmed the long standing rumor that Rock Band on-disc songs will also transfer to Rock Band 2.

A hidden gem in the Rock Band 2 press release, is that we’re finally going to see some DLC from The Who.  While it’s not “Who’s Next”, as expected, it’s more of a greatest hits collection of 12 songs ranging from “My Generation” to “Who Are You”.

“Their music really comes alive when you’re playing it,” said Rigopulos. “We were trying to release ‘Who’s Next’ in its entirety, but we were unable to locate all the masters. So in the face of that, Pete (Townshend) and Roger (Daltrey) helped curate this best-of soundtrack of everything we were able to find.”

The Who DLC pack will be available for purchase on July 15th in order for the releases to coincede with the upcoming “VH1 Rock Honors” ceremony celebrating The Who.

Weezer Red AlbumWell, I think just everybody and their mother knows that next weeks DLC is The Pixies album “Doolittle”.  However, Harmonix threw a curve ball today by announcing that a three pack of songs from Weezer’s new “Red” album will also be available next week.

Surprisingly, their first single “Pork and Beans” is not one of them, but they are three great tracks nonetheless.

The Offspring LogoPunk Rock Band The Offspring, who just released their new album “Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace” and also had their single “Hammerhead” recently released for Rock Band must really enjoy rocking out on plastic instruments as much as they do on the real deal.  It turns out that “Hammerhead” isn’t the only song that will in the Rock Band track listing as six more tracks are scheduled to make their way into Rock Band “Soon”  according to the official Offspring website.

Hit the jump for the upcoming track listing.

  • Come Out And Play [Keep ‘Em Separated]
  • Self Esteem
  • Gone Away
  • All I Want
  • Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)
  • The Kids Aren’t Alright

I’m personally really excited about this, as I own every Offspring album and I’ve seen The Offspring over five times, with the majority of the shows being from when they were a virtually unknown punk band playing in tiny venues for a handful of people in the middle of nowhere.
