GameInformer Spills The Beans On Rock Band 2

Rock Band 2 LogoThe latest issue of GameInformer is starting to arrive in mail boxes across the country, and thanks to the fine peeps at ScoreHero, scans of the 8 page Rock Band 2 blow out have been made available.  While some of the information has been known for awhile, there are still some golden nuggets of info to be found.

Of particular interest to drummers are the details of the new drum kits to be made available.  The first being the standard drum set, which will include features such as:

  • Wireless
  • Expansion Slots for Cymbols (cymbols to be sold seperately)
  • Velocity Sensitive Pads
  • Soft and Bouncy Pad (less noise)
  • Metal Reinforced Pedal (much like the Pedal Metal)

However, the crown jewel of the new hardware is the Limited Edition Ion Drum Kit.  Much like the Mad Catz Premium drum kit, it has some great features such as:

  • Fully Adjustable Pads
  • Velocity Sensitve Pads
  • Quiet Pads
  • Three Cymbols (ride, crash, hi-hat)
  • Metal Reinforced Bass Pedal

However, what seperates the Ion kit from the MadCatz set is that the Ion drum set will allow you to unplug the game controller section and replace it with an actual electronic drum set module, essentially turning your game controller into an actual musical instrument.

Speaking of actual musical instruments, it appears that the relationship with Fender is going strong as Fender will be providing several real strats that will be stripped down and replaced with Rock Band guts.  So if you’re looking for that actual look and feel, especially the weight, of a real guitar, Fender’s got you covered.

On the Song Listing front, 7 more tracks have been revealed.  The newly released tracks include:

  • “Almost Easy” - Avenged Sevenfold
  • “Bad Reputation” - Joan Jett
  • “I Was Wrong” - Social D
  • “Livin’ on a Prayer” - Bon Jovi
  • “Rock’n Me” - Steve Miller
  • “Testify” - Rage Against The Machine
  • “White Wedding Pt. 1″ - Billy Idol

Things are looking good for Rock Band 2 so far, and with E3 coming up next week the flood of information will continue to come through, so be sure to keep coming back for updates.
