While European Xbox 360 owners may be rejoicing that Rock Band’s release date has been revealed, the harsh reality of the price will destroy all the “happy happy joy joy” feelings that remain.

Unlike the North American release, Europe will not be getting the Special Edition of Rock Band.  Instead, they will be getting an Instrument Edition for a whopping £129.99/€169.99 that contains everything that you would need for a three person band, except the damn game.  The game itself is sold seperately for £49.99/€69.99.

Even if you already have a guitar from Guitar Hero and use your headset as a mic, it’s still going to cost you £59.99/€79.99 for a second guitar and £69.99/€89.99 for the drums.  That’s going to set you back £129.98/€169.98 and you still won’t have a copy of the game or a somewhat decent quality microphone.

Seeing as the US cost of the Special Edition was $169 or about £85/€105, it appears that Playstation and Wii owners upset about getting the game later aren’t the only ones getting screwed .
